“And now, dear brothers and sisters, we want you to know what will happen to the believers who have died so you will not grieve like people who have no hope. For since we believe that Jesus died and was raised to life again, we also believe that when Jesus returns, God will bring back with him the believers who have died.” - Thessalonians 4:13-17

           Baptism Ministry
Patron Saint: St. John the Baptist
Purpose: Schedule baptisms, educate families on the sacrament of baptism.
Training/Skills: Minimal training is needed; update meetings are scheduled as necessary;coordinators are always available if a volunteer (companion as they are called in the program) needs assistance.
Time Needed: Variable - based on what the individual is able to do.
Tasks/Responsibilities: Companions meet with families of child being baptized (car is needed as we go to the homes of the families), review the baptism process at St. Martin's, attend a gathering with the family/families they are companion to. The heart of the baptism program are the companions. They are the representatives of the entire parish to these families. This is a very rewarding ministry for these volunteers. Our parish has many young families with young children and in order to reach out to these families, we need more companions.
Length of Service: No set timeframe. Member’s discretion.
Annual Retreat: All members are encouraged to attend the annual Redemptorist Lay Associates Retreat held at San Alfonso Retreat Center (late August/early September).
