About the Music Ministry

Patron Saint: Saint Cecilia

Purpose: The Music Ministry's goal is to proclaim God's love in song. Our hope is to hear the congregation echo our words of musical prayer back to us, thereby lifting up our hearts as one people of God.

Training/Skills: If you love music, can sing or play an instrument, and want to be part of our musical community, consider joining our Music Ministry. The ability to read music is a plus but is not required.

Time Needed:

Adult Choirs rehearse Thursdays at 7:30 pm in the church and sing at either the 10:00 am or 12:00 noon Sunday mass.

The Children’s Choir singers are in grades 1 through 8. They rehearse Wednesdays at 5 pm and sing at the 10 am Sunday mass. The Family Mass also needs lectors. If your child reads well and is interested in becoming a lector at the 10 am Sunday mass, please contact Elena at the email address above. The Rhythm of Life Band worships at the 5:30 pm Sunday Life Teen mass and is open to anyone high-school-age and older. This group rehearses Wednesdays at 7:30 in the church.

Tasks/Responsibilities: Attend regular required rehearsal (usually about an hour); Attend longer rehearsals before major holy days; Attend weekly choir mass; Organize and take care of all sheet music and hymnals you are given; During the week look over weekly music and anthems and rehearse your parts.

Length of Service: No set timeframe. Member’s discretion.

Training/Development: Rehearsals are considered training/practice. There are outside classes, courses and events provided by the diocese and the National Pastoral Musicians Assoc. that any member may attend. Annual Retreat: All members are encouraged to attend the annual Redemptorist Lay Associates Retreat held at San Alfonso Retreat Center (late August/early September).
